Pemberton Global Gardeners

The PMN global gardeners group is run by volunteers and has become very successful with participation growing steadily. Monthly workshops on gardening techniques, healthy eating and food preparation are offered throughout the year. The volunteers feel a sense of pride and ownership to be helping other people in the community. The garden has become a gathering place for individuals and families. We hope that you will enjoy this space as much as we do.

In 2014, the Global Gardeners was established and a plot at the Pemberton Creek Community Garden was rented by Pemberton Multicultural Network through the Stewardship Pemberton Society. The purpose of the garden was to provide immigrants with the opportunity to get more education and skills in a positive and non-discriminatory environment.

If you are interested in becoming part of the Global Gardeners we ask that you commit to the whole gardening season (April to October). Tasks include;

  • weeding
  • watering
  • planting
  • harvesting

The harvest from the garden is shared between volunteers, with a portion of vegetables going to local social service groups including the Healthy Pregnancy Outreach Program and the Pemberton Food Bank.

If you would like to get involved with the Pemberton Global Gardeners contact the Leandra at the Pemberton Welcome Centre for more information.
